I had heard great things about Takato, especially for sushi, so I was excited to check it out. While the sushi was excellent, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu. The small portions lends itself to sharing a handful of dishes with your dining companions. One of the best parts of this spot is the location--right across from the beach, with outdoor seating that offers a beautiful view. The service was top-notch, with our server walking us through the menu and offering great recommendations. Overall, a great experience, and I'll definitely be back soon!

Love me some Takato Lovely ambience whether you're seated inside (reco for night) or outside (reco for day to see the ocean). Great shareable menu so be prepared to try 4-6 dishes to get a solid spread. We tried the crispy tuna (yum - generous on the tuna topping), crispy Brussels sprouts (love me some brussels), mushroom gyoza (love that this was an option, yum), spicy edamame (yum), veggie fried rice (yum), and tbh I forget what else but everything was delish so it got promptly consumed between myself and one other. No complaints on service, and our waiter provided some of the yummy reco's mentioned above so that's a plus. Great date night spot

Takato is a must visit restaurant on Fort Lauderdale Beach! I recommend getting their main dishes over the sushi. The Angry Chicken is a great portion size and the perfect amount of spice. The duck bao buns were my favorite dish of the night- they were so unique and so delicious. For sushi, we got the shrimp tempura roll and soft shell crab rolls and they weren't very unique, but they were still good. We ended with the ube cheesecake which was absolutely amazing! The cocktails were delicious too. It was a busy night when we went and everything still came out very quickly. One thing I will mention is if you are making a reservation and want to sit inside, make sure you specify you want inside. It seems they automatically seat you outside with a reservation. We went on a very windy and rainy day and had a reservation and were still seated outside. They have plastic tarps that they put down but they aren't continuous, so some seats were getting wet from the rain or getting a lot of wind. We asked to sit inside and were told we would have to wait a very long time, so that was definitely disappointing since we made a reservation. Other than that, I definitely recommend Takato!

I love the ambiance of this Japanese restaurant! It definitely set the bar for being fancy schmancyyy!! But I think I was so overwhelmed by the food that I forgot to take photos of it. I had the Japchae with short ribs and to be honest, I think it was a little too sweet for my liking, as well as the angry chicken. But I did enjoy the variety of cocktails they had, very strong. I also liked the kimchi rice for coming in a clay pot and just the perfect amount of heat! The service was excellent. Our server, Austin, was so kind, considerate and the best photographer ever!

We had a group dinner with a bunch friends to celebrate my birthday. The lowlight of the night was the drinks. We had to send a variety of drinks back to be remade. But our server handled it exceptionally well and just made additional recommendations. The food was fantastic - edamame, ribs, miso soup, brussel sprouts, sea bass, salmon, and sushi cake for dessert. All highly recommended. I also had the beef bulgogi. Didn't love it due to how thin the meat was sliced. But I would definitely return.

Had an amazing birthday dinner here. I've been recommending it since to all my friends. We had an early dinner here on a Saturday night. We ended up sitting at the sushi bar cause we enjoy people watching. The bar sits kinda low so you can't see everything the workers were doing but they were constantly busy. We ordered a few things at a time while enjoying bottles of sake in between. We got the spicy edamame, miso soup and short rib tacos to start. I loved the sweet but spicy kick on the edamame and the tender meat on the tacos. We then got the spicy yellowtail roll and the aburi sake which was torched salmon belly. The yellowtail roll went quickly and I was happy to if tried the salmon belly. Round three we ordered the lamb chops and the wagyu skirt steak. We shared both again and drooled over them both! The steak was served with a half cooked onion which we enjoyed with the steak each bite dipped in the chimichurri. The lamb chops came with cucumbers which went tasty with that when dipped in the tahini sauce. Since it was a special occasion we got the dessert with numerous options to try. It was served beautifully on a bed of ice. With sushi ice cream, cream brûlée, a cheesecake and chocolate lava cake. Our favorite one was the sushi ice cream since it was unique. It was Rice Krispies rolled up with ice cream in the middle with a chocolate dipping sauce. Overall it was a very sleek, clean establishment with impeccable service and amazing cuisine! We had a superb experience!! Thank you Takato!
